For thousands of years, man has turned to one of the first domesticated animals for artistic inspiration. Why is that? Dogs are not the best models. It is not in them to strike a still pose without training and they are generally uncooperative in the artistic
process of rendering images. Those are qualities more commonly found in a tree, a mountain a bowl of fruit on the table, or another person. I think the reason people paint, draw or photograph dogs is because they like them and because they are often close, in all senses of the word. There is a reason dogs are known as man’s best friend. My goal is to
capture on canvas something of the life that is in your dog. From their range of facial expressions, to their behavior when they are content, disappointed or alarmed, dogs have just as much personality as do people. In many cases, dogs have much more. A good dog can communicate without saying a word. A good painting can do the same. I create one of a kind, original oil paint portraits of your dog using photographs that you provide. My paintings are not copies
or duplicated images. They are my impression of what I see expressed with brush and color. They are art. Oil paint is an exceptionally durable art medium that will keep its color and need not be protected under glass.Your one-of-a-kind dog portrait will outlive both you and your pet.
